Hello, all! Sorry I've been pretty much MIA, as of late. I'll try to be better about keeping things lively here.

Lately, I realized I have a lot of unfinished writing projects. Over a period of five to seven years, these stories have been slowly congregating into one big, inter-connected saga, with huge time jumps in between some of the books. Rather like Tolkien's works, which is half coincidence and half not.

I'm tired of leaving these stories alone for weeks at a time, so I'm challenging myself to work at least a little bit every single day. I want this saga, big and cumbersome though it is, to be DONE in five years. I want the crux point, which was suppposed to be one novel and ended up growing into a trilogy, to be done in two.

I think I'm crazy. But I'm happier for coming to this decision, so I'll be crazy and happy. :)

Hope you're all doing well!

Chaos breaks out. Not the giant spiders are attacking, we'll all be spun cocktails in five seconds, run, Mr. Frodo, run sort of chaos. (Thankfully.) Just the social discomfort of the highest degree that seems trifling when read about, but very, very, very bad when actually experienced first hand.

Onward, ho! )

At the eager requests of [livejournal.com profile] litlover12 and [livejournal.com profile] msantimacassar, I bring forth a crossover fic about Sir Percy Blakeney meeting Severus Snape. I'm sorry it took so long to whip this up, ladies. I was afraid to start it for a long time, thinking I wouldn't be able to do the concept justice--then I decided to just get it over with, and rewrite it if I feel like it later on. Guess that is one of the beauties of writing. :)

A little tribute to two of the bravest men in fiction . . . )

Chapter IV
The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel

Everybody's sitting happily at the well-laid table in the coffee room of the Fisherman's Rest—everyone, that is, except one of the following possible people.

a. Severus Snape
b. Eeyore
c. the Lone Ranger
d. those domino-playing guys who are NOT French

And the answer is . . . )

A trend of thought seems to have emerged in The Hunger Games fandom. When people think Katniss Everdeen, they think of a strong, powerful heroine. Katniss has basically become the symbol of young girl without a single weakness.

Why do so many people assume Katniss Everdeen has no weakness? Where does Suzanne Collins state or imply in her Hunger Games trilogy that her heroine has no weakness?

Nowhere.

So what gave people that idea? )

Chapter III
The Refugees

First off, the reader is expected to wade through the usual filler about politics, which said filler I skip through without even thinking.

What is with filler, anyway? Why put it there if nobody reads it? )

Chapter II:
Dover: “The Fisherman's Rest”

Just to let you know, not much happens in this chapter. Not much that's of interest to me, anyway. I'm reading this strictly for the Pimpernel, and the Pimpernel doesn't appear here. It's what I'd call a “filler” chapter—you're impatient to get it over with as you read, and you only see its real purpose in the book after you've read it through. And then you think you might have been able to do it better.

We're going to an inn, but it's not the Prancing Pony )

This little masterpiece of a book is arguably one of my favorites of all time. Much as I love it, though, I do have to admit, Orczy's writing style can be just a wee bit much for me. Thus, most of this commentary will focus on praise for my favorite characters, and jokes aimed at Orczy whenever she gets too excited or sentimental about stuff. You have been duly cautioned. :)

Onward ho! )
