Stayin' Alive
Sep. 24th, 2014 09:25 amHello, all! Sorry I've been pretty much MIA, as of late. I'll try to be better about keeping things lively here.
Lately, I realized I have a lot of unfinished writing projects. Over a period of five to seven years, these stories have been slowly congregating into one big, inter-connected saga, with huge time jumps in between some of the books. Rather like Tolkien's works, which is half coincidence and half not.
I'm tired of leaving these stories alone for weeks at a time, so I'm challenging myself to work at least a little bit every single day. I want this saga, big and cumbersome though it is, to be DONE in five years. I want the crux point, which was suppposed to be one novel and ended up growing into a trilogy, to be done in two.
I think I'm crazy. But I'm happier for coming to this decision, so I'll be crazy and happy. :)
Hope you're all doing well!

Summer Rambling
Aug. 7th, 2014 01:14 pmI don't scream for ice cream. I let out a full-throated banshee howl for ice cream. It's a life-saver during this heat, even more so now that monsoon season makes the air sticky. Desert rats hate humidity. We hates it, precious!
Out of curiosity, what's the weather like in your neck of the woods, O mine friends-list? I'm pretty sure half the U.S. has been subject to showers. Also, how often does it rain? A little? A lot? Average?

Lots of Squee
Jun. 26th, 2014 12:15 pmI spaced out and completely forgot that Epica released a new album in May. *hangs head in shame* It's great, and some moments are so heart-pumping, I nearly had to just sit aside and chill for a bit. Wow. Must save moneyz faster so I can buy this after some GACKT goodies. :D
This is THE BEST fandom/classic crossover fanart. EVER. The only reason I'm not screaming like a banshee and running around in circles is because I'm at work. The original painting, The Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton, is my favorite piece of artwork of all time. Just look at the lighting there. Look at it. Magnificent, utterly magnificent. Excuse me while I bide my time till my break so I can run outside and squee.

Music Flailing: Japanese Rock Edition
May. 29th, 2014 11:39 amNext up, Japanese rock, especially the genre visual kei. Visual kei is like a world unto itself. Visual kei artists and bands can incorporate any genre of music into their sound and feel, but they have their own unique look that sets them apart. Decadent and old-fashioned and otherworldly, but always glamorous and fascinating. It's amazing--not to mention addictive. :)
(I can't BEGIN to say how much this artist has influenced me. It would take weeks. Suffice to say, he worked very hard, and still works hard, to be an artist, and it encourages me to work hard on my writing.)
( More vestiges of another world this way... )

Music Flailing: Symphonic Rock Edition
May. 27th, 2014 02:55 pmIt's been too quiet here on my journal lately. Time to spruce things up! A lot of you already know about some of my musical favorites, but others I don't talk about here much. (Mostly because it doesn't fit with the Jane Austen/LotR/PotC vibe I got going, and I like to keep on theme.) So I'm just going to post a series of spamfests. :)
First up, symphonic rock! Within Temptation here is my favorite band of all time. (Have I mentioned that yet?) My writing muse loves this music to bits.
( And more faves this way... )

Books and Horses
May. 8th, 2014 12:12 pmMy To Be Read List is so long, I'm coping by revisiting Marguerite Henry. She's the reason I get at least one horse calendar every year. My first introduction to her was an old copy of Misty of Chincoteague that my Dad had as a kid. Totally and completely fell in love with her writing style, and her books launched me into an obsession with horses and an appreciation for Will James. This fever lasted through my preteen and early teen years, and only mellowed out after I got a book all about horse care. Then I realized that much as I loved horses, I would never be able to make the time and effort commitment necessary for proper horse care (let alone AFFORD it financially). So now I read about horses, and sketch horses, but devote most of my obsession to fandoms. :)
Hello Stupidity, My Old Friend
Apr. 15th, 2014 11:37 pmI have a mouth full of cavities. I don't know if stress, moodiness, or laziness is to blame, but I'm blaming myself because I used to have perfect oral hygiene. I'm still on my parents' insurance, so most of it will be covered, but it's a bitter blow to the pride. Guess who's going to be brushing her teeth four freaking times a day now? *rolls eyes*
