ever_maedhros: (effie trinket)
I have a mouth full of cavities. I don't know if stress, moodiness, or laziness is to blame, but I'm blaming myself because I used to have perfect oral hygiene. I'm still on my parents' insurance, so most of it will be covered, but it's a bitter blow to the pride. Guess who's going to be brushing her teeth four freaking times a day now? *rolls eyes*
ever_maedhros: (woe is me)
Photobucket switched one of my accounts to its new, updated version which does NOT allow me to copy links for my icons all at the same time. I'm not copying 20+ link codes icon by icon, so off I go to switch back to the old version, like I did with another account I use more often.

Guess what? Photobucket won't let me switch back.

I may just throw a ladylike hissy fit. Don't know how to manage that, but I'll figure it out, if I can't figure out how to get my links the way I need them. Blasted website! I'm wanting to to post some icons of The Importance of Being Earnest. Maybe I need to go Bunburying in order to sort this out.

ETA: It finally switched back to the old version for me. I just had to try it multiple times. YAY!

. . . that you walk across your dark bedroom to turn off your CD player, only to see a silhouette of a spider on the INSIDE of the LED screen?

Well, odds or no odds, I just did. Usually, I would find that cool instead of creepy--but in this instance, this spider naturally just HAD to look like a tiny brown recluse. (And if baby spiders are anything like baby snakes when it comes to not knowing when to stop spewing venom . . . yikes.)

My poor CD player is going to have to spend the night outside. Hopefully, nothing else will crawl inside after the spider decides to leave.

And the images of brown recluses (sprinkled with horrifically unattended brown recluse bites) that I looked at are certainly not helping me feel like going to sleep. (Ironically, I was having a great night before this. Finally decided that it would be cheaper to buy separate DVD and Blu-ray copies of The Hunger Games and watched the Blu-Ray. Ahhhhhh.)
ever_maedhros: (the stupid)
Apparently, retailers are assuming that next to nobody wants to buy a copy of The Hunger Games in a set with BOTH DVD and Blu-ray. The only places I've found that carry that are Best Buy for an affordable price (which is out already, due to low stock in the first place) and Amazon for a ridiculous price. I really don't want to have to spend close to sixty bucks just so I can have both. :(

I DON'T KNOW WHETHER I WANT TO HULK-SMASH OR FORCE-CRUNCH SOMETHING.

ever_maedhros: (you're kidding right)
Apparently, the latest insult against dead literary giants that can't defend their own works anymore is. . . revamping classics so they read like Fifty Shades of Grey.

Yeah, you read that right.

And I thought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was infuriating. That's got NOTHING on this. I'm not sure whether to shoot myself or go on a killing spree.

WRITE YOU OWN FREAKING BOOKS YOU LAZY, GREEDY, PATHETIC PERVERTS.

Or just stick to fanfiction, at the very least. Do NOT tamper with the original work, written in blood and sweat and tears, of writers to whom you can't even begin to compare. Show some respect, even if you have no restraint or dignity.

Sorry if you can't hear me over my screams of "SACRILEGE!" Jane Austen is my hero, and has been for years, and I can't stand it when people trample her work because they're too stupid or too lazy to appreciate its wit and subtlety. I've just been reading a compiled work of her letters, and feeling more in awe of her than ever.

I'm going to go listen to some soothing music. Or something. Something to make me feel better, because I care too much.

All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.
